Aurala is an open place for hobbies and encounters for everyone. Here you can study and pursue hobbies at the community college, participate in the free activities of the community living room, or join study and recreational activities for seniors. For those who have moved to Finland, we teach Finnish and advise on job seeking and many practical matters. <\/p>\n

We also have services for the little ones in the family, as our daycare provides a home-like environment for about 35 children, and our community college offers courses suitable for children and young people.<\/p>\n

Aurala promotes a good and active life at all stages, understanding diversity, and community. Key to developing our operations is listening to our customers and collaborating with other stakeholders. We have operated according to these principles since 1939. <\/p>\n

We are a member of the Finnish Settlement Federation ry<\/a>. There are 32 settlements, or local associations, operating in Finland. We are also part of the international settlement movement<\/a>. Our operations are politically and religiously independent. Our doors are open to everyone. In our operations, we adhere to the principles of a safer space. <\/p>\n

Sensitivity is the ability to see beyond the surface and recognize a person’s diverse skills. Sensitivity is the ability to anticipate and react. <\/p>\n

Trust<\/strong>
\nWe see every person as inherently good and trust in their potential. We strengthen a person’s ability to take responsibility for their matters. We encourage them to pursue their own dreams and goals. We help. We don’t do things for them. We act as significant others to each other: people who trust in our abilities even when we doubt ourselves, and who encourage us forward. <\/p>\n

Equality<\/strong>
\nWe meet people respectfully and equally. We meet them as themselves, without judgment, assumptions, and with an open mind.
