A week of freshness from a senior shoulder bag
Senior Olkkari is an activity conceived by seniors themselves in their own residential area. Activities are carried out in communal living rooms or other spaces suitable for shared use - or even outside. The activity can be, for example, drinking coffee, crafts, exercise, culture or any activity arising from the ideas of the participants. The groups can run either led by a peer instructor or supported by a hired senior friend. Seniorolkarki's activities are free of charge and open to everyone.
The goal is to increase the inclusion, sense of security and well-being of seniors living in the suburbs and reduce loneliness by bringing seniors together in refreshing activities close to their homes, in their own residential area. Senioriolkar's funding comes from the proceeds of funds received as testamentary donations from the city of Turku. Funding period 10/2023-12/2024.
Come and join in devising activities for the senior shoulder
We invite seniors to joint brainstorming sessions to share their wishes and ideas for activities. The participants' own interests as well as their own expertise play an important role in the planning of the activities. What would be a meaningful activity for you? Participating in what kind of activity would brighten up the day?
The first Seniorolkari ideation coffees are organized:
Jyrkkälä residents Mon 23.10. from 9 am to 1 pm (Jyrkkälänkatu 2)
